BEST OF DORSET TOURISM CELEBRATE WITH 78 AWARDS

We were thrilled to receive a silver medal for our first-ever entry in the small tourist attraction category.

A record 78 trophies were presented to tourism businesses from across the county at the 2019 Dorset Tourism Awards dinner, held at The Tank Museum on Thursday 17th October with guest speaker Simon Cripps, Chief Executive of Dorset Wildlife Trust.

Now in its seventh year, the Awards broke all records in celebrating the best of Dorset tourism and also as the route for Dorset businesses to win in the South West and national VisitEngland awards.

All parts of the county saw winners – from Shaftesbury and Sherborne in the in the north, to Christchurch, Poole and Bournemouth in the east, and Lyme Regis, Purbeck, Weymouth, Bridport and Lyme Regis in the south and west. Winners had been through what is recognised as one of the country’s most rigorous judging processes involving assessment of entry forms, 115 judging visits and ending with decisions by an independent panel.

 

Opportunity to run the Vineyard Café

We currently have a fantastic opportunity to run the Vineyard Café at Langham Wine Estate.

Located close to Dorchester, Langham Wine Estate has developed a reputation for producing outstanding English Sparkling Wine. In 2017 we opened a Tasting Room and Café on-site in a converted dairy, to host tours, tastings and regular events.The business has seen significant growth over the last two years and we are now looking for a company, or individual, with a proven catering background, to build on this success and fully exploit the potential for the Vineyard Café.

You will need to ensure the food offer fully complements our wine portfolio and reflects the growing customer demand for provenance and innovation, whilst providing value for money. As part of a vibrant Dorset Food & Drink community you will create a compelling selection of daily and event menus, alongside an exemplary service proposition that will grow with our core business.

We are looking for a partner who will work with our small and friendly team and is committed to ensuring customers consistently receive an exceptional and memorable experience.

The chosen operator will be expected to sign up to a two-year agreement starting January 2020.

2018 Vintage all bottled

After the exceptional 2018 harvest we decided to invest in a new bottling line in order to give us increased throughput and flexibility.

Over the course of August Daniel, our Winemaker, and Tommy, our Assistant Winemaker, bottled over 60,000 bottles across several blends of sparkling and still (for the first time!) wine.

Our usual storage facilities (those of you who have been on one of our tours will be familiar with the wine store) did not have enough capacity to store the latest vintage and so we had to come up with a new solution. Luckily we had access to some disused underground tunnels that, after a small restoration job, were more than perfect for the task.
