  • "An elegant example"

Generous wine in a classic Blanc de Blancs style. Apple, blossom and hawthorn sit prettily with the brioche characters. Bright citrus finish to this elegant example.

  • "Yellow apple & banana peel with buttered brioche on the nose"

Yellow apple and banana peel with buttered brioche on the nose. The palate is concentrated with plenty of depth. Yeasty bruised apple, almonds and dried apricot, balanced by firm acidity and spiced up by a pinch of freshly ground
white pepper. The creamy mousse reveals lingering almond biscuit flavours on the finish.

Tasting Notes

100% barrel-aged Chardonnay

The Estate:

All Langham Estate wines are made using grapes grown at our single site in rural Dorset. The Crawthorne vineyard consists of 12 hectares planted solely with the classic Champagne varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot noir and Pinot meunier. The site was carefully selected for its south facing slope and free-draining chalk subsoil. A long growing season and considerate viticulture ensures we harvest the finest grapes possible.

The grapes were picked in October 2017 and gently pressed, whole bunch. Press fractions were carefully separated and left to naturally settle for 24 hours. Primary fermentation took place in a combination of stainless-steel tanks and used oak barrels, followed by complete malolactic fermentation. Following 7 months of élevage, the final blend was bottled and left to age on lees for a minimum of 30 months. At disgorgement the wine received 3 g/L dosage and was aged for a further 3 to 6 months under cork. There has been no sulphur dioxide added to this wine.

Tasting Note:

A stable foam, pale gold colour and fine stream of bubbles. Nose is complex with ripe gala apple and poached pear. Some floral notes of apple blossom and honey suckle. A seriousness here
too, with wet beach pebbles and toasted granary bread. A well-integrated orchard fruit acidity. Confected apple, some creaminess ad great texture. A lovely salinity and citrus balances well. Some light brioche and almond notes too.

A complex yet elegant example of how great Chardonnay can be in the UK.
