Our Rosé 2017 is a blend of 54% Pinot Noir, 23% Pinot Meunier and 23% Chardonnay, which produce this pale rose gold wine with a stream of fine bubbles.  Aromas of rhubarb crumble, cherry, cranberry & raspberry compote. The palate has a fine mousse with notes of strawberries & cream, sour cherry & pink lady apple with an integrated citrus acidity. A complex wine with a long finish.

A wine suited to all occasions, drinking equally well on its own or with light seafood dishes. Perfect now or age for up to 3 years.

  • "An outstanding example of ESW"

The wine shows a beautiful balance between fruit & acid, which makes the wine feel fresh, but not tart. Excellent complexity on the nose & palate.

  • "Lovely strawberry flavour"

Creamy nose. Lovely strawberry flavour with a flintiness too. Lactic tang in the finish is really lovely. Obviously cool climate.

  • "Acidity is perfectly soft and lifting"

Colour is bright, mousse is great visually. Its creamy but still has great concentration of strawberry. Very dry, but still has enough ripe fruit to lift palate. Acidity is perfectly soft and lifting.

  • "Delightful"

Elegance, finesse, great length, creamy mousse, delightful.

Base Vintage:

2017

Blend:

54% Pinot Noir, 23% Pinot Meunier, 23% Chardonnay

The Estate:

All Langham Estate wines are made using grapes grown at our single site in rural Dorset. The Crawthorne vineyard consists of 12 hectares planted to Chardonnay, Pinot noir and Pinot meunier. The site was carefully selected for its south facing slope, which is composed of the same chalk, clay and flint soil as found in the Champagne region. A long growing season and considerate viticulture ensures we harvest the finest grapes possible.

Vinification:

The grapes were picked early October and gently pressed, whole bunch, in a pneumatic press. Primary fermentation took place in a combination of stainless steel tanks and used oak barrels. We ferment a small batch of Pinot Noir each year as a red wine. A dash of this red wine was added to the blend prior to bottling to achieve a pale pink colour and enhance red fruit characteristics. Following secondary fermentation the wine was left to age on yeast lees in bottle for a minimum of 24 months.

Tasting Note:

Aromas of rhubarb crumble, cherry, cranberry & raspberry compote. The palate has a fine mousse with notes of strawberries & cream, sour cherry & pink lady apple with an integrated citrus acidity. A complex wine with a long finish, enjoy on its own or with light seafood dishes.
