  • "If you are a fan of tender, smooth, elegant wines, you will find it hard to better this fabulous creation."

There is very much a 2018 juiciness about this wine which brings thrilling harmony and uncommon succulence. There is also a very low dosage here of 3 g/L, and I imagine this is because the fruit is so pliable and welcoming.

If you are a fan of tender, smooth, elegant wines, you will find it hard to better this fabulous creation.

  • "Big & extremely fruity!"

16.5+/20Mid salmon colour. Big and extremely fruity! Finish of sherbet and strawberry. Very distinct styles for all three main cuvées at Langham. Saline finish and quite assertive. Like the Corallian, this is a real wine, with bubbles. Long. Hint of beeriness. Still quite chewy. Powerful!

Coloured by 6% still red wine made from a Champagne clone of Pinot Noir in this case but from 2020 it will be Pinot Noir Précoce. 46% Pinot Noir, 36% Chardonnay, 18% Pinot Meunier. 85% 2018 wine and 15% reserve wine. Dosage 3 g/l (their highest) at disgorgement on 8 November 2021.

Tasting Notes

Vintage:

82% 2019, 18% reserve wine

Blend:

59% Pinot Noir (7% Red), 36% Chardonnay, 5% Pinot Meunier.

The Estate:

All Langham Estate wines are made using grapes grown at our single site in rural Dorset. The Crawthorne vineyard consists of 12 hectares planted solely with the classic Champagne varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The site was carefully selected for its south facing slope and free-draining chalk subsoil. A long growing season and considerate viticulture ensures we harvest the finest grapes possible.

Vinification:

The grapes for the base vintage were picked in October 2019 & gently pressed, whole bunch. Press fractions were carefully separated & left to naturally settle for 24 hours. Primary fermentation took place in a combination of stainless-steel tanks & used oak barrels, followed by complete malolactic fermentation. Following 7 months of élevage, the final blend was created including 7% red wine & 18% reserve wine. It was then bottled & left to age on lees for a minimum of 20 months. At disgorgement the wine received 2 g/L dosage & was aged for a minimum of 4 months under cork.

Tasting Note:

An elegant, delicious and complex Rosé. Perfumed on the nose with notes of raspberry and pomegranate, followed by the richness of marzipan and brown butter, almost suggesting battenberg cake. The palate is rich and open, a characteristic of our oxidative winemaking, with flavours of greek yoghurt, mandarin and fresh apricots. The wine is structured around the grip of red wine and oak tannins, blood orange acidity and a dry finish at just 2g/L dosage.
