Langham Showstoppers Twin Pack

Our duo of shining stars! These two wines consistently wow customers & judges alike.

This Rosé has a base vintage from 2018, blended with 15% reserve wine and uses juice from all 3 grape varieties grown here at Langham; 46% Pinot Noir, 18% Pinot Meunier, 36% Chardonnay.  This has flavours of strawberry leaf, white peach & English hedgerow.

Our Blanc de Blancs is 100% Chardonnay and in comparison to our classic cuvées, our winemakers aim for a richer style and leave this wine to age on the lees slightly longer. Prominent notes are of apple pie, pear blossom, & lemon tart. This is a true celebration wine to be enjoyed as an aperitif, or with poultry and seafood dishes.

This is the perfect gift to introduce someone to the Langham style and showcase our exceptional English fizz.

  • "Rosé 2018: If you are a fan of tender, smooth, elegant wines, you will find it hard to better this fabulous creation."

There is very much a 2018 juiciness about this wine which brings thrilling harmony and uncommon succulence. There is also a very low dosage here of 3 g/L, and I imagine this is because the fruit is so pliable and welcoming.

If you are a fan of tender, smooth, elegant wines, you will find it hard to better this fabulous creation.

Tasting Notes

Vintage:

85% 2018, 15% reserve wine

Blend:

46% Pinot Noir, 18% Pinot Meunier, 36% Chardonnay

The Estate:

All Langham Estate wines are made using grapes grown at our single site in rural Dorset. The Crawthorne vineyard consists of 12 hectares planted solely with the classic Champagne varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The site was carefully selected for its south facing slope and free-draining chalk subsoil. A long growing season and considerate viticulture ensures we harvest the finest grapes possible.

Vinification:

The grapes for the base vintage were picked in October 2018 & gently pressed, whole bunch. Press fractions were carefully separated & left to naturally settle for 24 hours. Primary fermentation took place in a combination of stainless-steel tanks & used oak barrels, followed by complete malolactic fermentation. Following 7 months of élevage, the final blend was created including 6% red wine & 15% reserve wine. It was then bottled & left to age on lees for a minimum of 20 months. At disgorgement the wine received 3 g/L dosage & was aged for a minimum of 4 months under cork.

Tasting Note:

There are aromas aplenty here with cherry bakewell, pink lady apple skin, raspberry yoghurt & wild strawberries. The palate reflects this fresh red berry profile, but it is also more serious & has great depth. Cherry yoghurt, young wild strawberry & raspberry coulis bring the fruit profile to the forefront, whilst a more savoury & saline note of habas fritas (fried salted broad beans) rounds off this delicious wine. There is a well-balanced yet crunchy acidity which carries the finish on this wine very well.
