Intense on the first sip, with real richness and ripeness of fruit, balance of acidity, and complexity from lees ageing, which leans towards bread dough and biscuit. An aperitif or celebratory wine.

“Elegant aromas of honeysuckle and pear blossom sing above notes of russet apple and cob nuts. The palate is alive with defined English orchard fruit, refreshing acidity and a well-integrated creamy character. The experience concludes with a refreshing, long-lasting golden apple finish” – IWSC Judges John Hoskins MW, David Kermode, Emma Penman, Andrew Craig, Zareh Mesrobyan.

IWSC 2025

Mid gold. Elegant but bold, umami, toasty and yeasty aromas. Lots of mouth-watering acidity but also oozing character. Bruised apple, spiced brioche, and layers of toasty and yeasty complexity. Opulent, complex aromatics, hints of lees and hops, brioche and sourdough. Delicious fizz in a very English orchard style. Definite briny saline top note. The palate is energetic, with a vibrant explosive mousse, creamy citrus lemon notes and a pure, saline finish. Very serious. Dry but balanced. Impressive.

Tasting Notes

Fine and tense

The nose opens with perfumed aromas of balsam, gooseberry and poached pear, leading into heady, savoury notes of toasted pumpkin seed, chestnut mushroom and oyster shell. The palate is gracefully sinuous; full of grip yet vinous. Velvety lactic tones of ewe’s milk are complemented by waxy grapefruit peel and vibrant acidity. This cooler, wetter base vintage has benefitted from a higher proportion of reserve wines, bringing breadth and harmony, and lending this Blanc de Blancs a generous, chalky, persistent finish.
