The results from 2 wine competitions recently proved to be very fruitful for us here at Langham, with a range of Gold and Silver Medals being awarded across our range.

In August 2020 we received the results from 2 wine competitions and we were ecstatic with the comments from the judges and the results.

Wine GB Awards

First up was the wonderful, celebrating all the wonderful wine produced by our fellow British winemakers. Judges Susie Barrie MW and Oz Clarke MBE, and Rebecca Palmer, wine buyer of Corney & Barrow, tasted a huge number of wines, with strict COVID-19 measures in place this competition judging was slightly different to usual.

The three judges pondered over all 281 entries over 5 days and at the end of it, we were awarded 4 medals in total from Wine GB, consisting of 2 Gold Medals, for our Blanc de Blancs 2015 and our Corallian Classic Cuvee; plus 2 Silver Medals, for our Culver Classic Cuvee and our Rose NV!

Here’s what the judges had to say about our Gold Medal Winners:
Blanc de Blancs 2015:
Fine soft but intense mousse with a fragrant yeasty aroma. In the mouth it’s dry, savoury and with tangy acidity showing good development and notes of praline on the finish.

Corallian Classic Cuvee:
Toasty, creamy berries, such an inviting nose! Palate is uplifting and bright, with chalky Chardonnay character evident first, the Pinots depth coming in beneath. Lovely panoply of flavours, berries, biscuit, ginger…. Just weighty and curvy enough but also light and airy. Delicious uplifting finish. Impressive to achieve, all this with such a low dosage.

IWSC Awards

Following the results of Wine GB, we received news of medals across the board for our sparkling wines from an international competition, the IWSC! Our Blanc de Blancs impressed again, becoming one of only 6 English Wines to receive this accolade. Then the other 4 sparkling wines on our portfolio all received Silver.

IWSC judges were impressed with the range of wines produced here with our low intervention approach to wine making and use of oak.

Blanc de Blancs 2015
“Lovely, creamy brioche nose with bags of autolytic character, balanced out with freshness. Rich, charming palate of apricots and citrus notes, all rounded off with an elegant, long finish. “
