  • "A true reflection of the vintage, the style and the region."

This smells just like ripe guava – not something I think I've ever smelt on a sparkling wine before. Also warm brioche. And Turkish delight. An impeccable waltz, moving through quince and apricot ripeness, sweetly nutty-brioche autolysis and the sharp volant of classic English acidity. Every step on point. A true reflection of the vintage, the style and the region.

Tasting Notes

100% Chardonnay

The Estate:

All Langham Estate wines are made using grapes grown at our single site in rural Dorset. The Crawthorne vineyard consists of 12 hectares planted solely with the classic Champagne varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. The site was carefully selected for its south facing slope and free-draining chalk subsoil. A long growing season and considerate viticulture ensures we harvest the finest grapes possible.

The grapes were picked in October 2018 and gently pressed, whole bunch. Press fractions were carefully separated and left to naturally settle for 24 hours. Primary fermentation took place with indigenous yeast in a combination of stainless-steel tanks & used oak barrels, followed by complete malolactic fermentation. Following 7 months of élevage, the final blend was bottled and left to age on lees for a minimum of 24 months. At disgorgement the wine received 3 g/L dosage and was aged for a further 3 to 6 months under cork.

Tasting Note:

A pale golden colour with a delicate stream of fine bubbles. The nose is rich & complex, showing off the ripeness of the 2018 vintage with aromas of apple pie, crème anglaise, pear blossom, white peach, toasted almond & burnt butter. The palate is also complex with notes of lemon tart, marzipan, granny smith apple, white grapefruit and a great salinity running through.  The finish is long and well balanced on this showcase of 2018 Chardonnay.
