Classic Cuvée Reserve 2011 Magnum
The 2011 Classic Cuvée Reserve is a limited release in 1.5 litre magnum bottles. The wine was carefully selected in barrel by the winemaker, and blended with the upmost care to create this very special blend of Chardonnay and Pinot noir.
The wine was bottled directly from barrel without any fining or filtering to ensure the integrity of the fruit and wine was maintained.
50% Chardonnay, 50% Pinot noir
All Langham Estate wines are made using grapes grown at our single site in rural Dorset. The Crawthorne vineyard consists of 12 hectares planted solely with the classic Champagne varieties – Chardonnay, Pinot noir and Pinot meunier. The site was carefully selected for its south facing slope, which is composed of the same chalk, clay and flint soil as found in the Champagne region. A long growing season and considerate viticulture ensures we harvest the finest grapes possible.
The grapes were picked from 14th-29th October 2011 and gently pressed, whole bunch, in a pneumatic press. All of the wines were fermented in used oak barrels and with very gentle lees stirring over a 6 month period. In the spring of 2012 the wine from barrel was simply blended and bottled without any fining or filtration. Following secondary fermentation the wine was aged on yeast lees for 48 months. Only 833 bottles produced.
A rich pale gold colour with streams of tiny bubbles. A beautifully poised wine with notes of wild strawberries, burnt orange and buttered toast on the nose. The palate is alive with crunchy red apple and brioche. The limey acidity produces an energised finish with fantastic length.
Winner of ‘The Most Outstanding English Sparkling Wine 2016’.
