Sunday 27th June saw the end of English Wine Week 2021, which was a roaring success yet again, with wine fans enjoying new and old favourites from producers across the country.
WineGB, who organised the week long celebrations, took the opportunity to announce the results of their 2021 awards during the week.
We entered all 5 of our Sparkling Wines into the competition this year:
The latest incarnations of both Culver & Corallian, released in March & April this year; Our 2017 Rosé which was released in January of this year; and last but definitely not least our brand new Blanc de Blancs 2017 and Pinot Meunier 2018.
This year the WineGB judging panel consisted of the following experts from the wine world:
Co-Chairs Susie Barrie MW and Oz Clarke OBE
Hamish Anderson, Group Buyer for The Tate Restaurant Group
Simon Field MW, wine writer and consultant
Beth Kelly MW, Buyer at Majestic
Helen McGinn, wine writer and broadcaster
Rebecca Palmer, wine buyer of Corney & Barrow
The wine industry in the UK is going from strength to strength these days, and it’s wonderful to have some friendly competition with our fellow countryfolk, all pushing each other to strive for better and keep our industry innovative and interesting.
WineGB are incredibly active in promoting our homegrown wines and their competition is a highlight of the calendar for many GB producers.
There were a record number of entrants this year, with 24 new producers entering for the first time, and out of 275 medals awarded, only 37 of them were gold medals.
We’re delighted to say that all 5 of our wines received medals, with the Culver and the Rosé 2017 both receiving gold medals, and our 3 other entries each receiving a silver medal.
